Private Security: The Origins

Private Security: The Origins

In 1966 Ireland experienced the longest Bank Strike in our Country’s History. This strike led, indirectly, to the establishment of Ireland’s first Security Company.

As a result of this Bank Strike, a Company, Irish Industrial Gases, based in Bluebell, found themselves in the arguably unenviable position of having a Safe packed to the brim with Cash !!

IIG approached an up and coming young Garda Sergeant based in Clondalkin Station by the name of John Courtney and enquired whether he knew of a reliable and trustworthy person who could be called upon to protect their cash. John immediately contacted Martin Kenna of Inchicore and the rest, as they say, is History.Brochure_2015-46
